Lemonquat is a cross between a lemon and a kumquat. This fruit was probably created through a natural cross between a true lemon (Citrus limon) and a kumquat variety such as the Nagami kumquat (Fortunella margarita).
Lemonquats look more like kumquats, but are larger and often have an oval shape. They have a smooth, thin shell that is edible and does not require peeling. Inside, lemonquats have juicy flesh that combines a sweet and sour taste, with the sweet taste of the kumquat and the sour taste of the lemon merging together.
Lemonquats can be eaten raw and also find use in various culinary applications, from use in drinks such as cocktails and teas to use as an ingredient in jams, chutneys, desserts or as an accompaniment to various dishes.
This fruit is popular due to its unique taste and versatility, although it may not be as widely available as other citrus fruits on the market.
